Position Summary:
The youth pastor will effectively recruit, develop, shepherd, and lead The Tabernacle’s youth into a personal relationship with Christ Jesus. He/She must embrace a 21st century style that is both mature and saturated in the Living Word of God as he/she motivates the youth to desire a more intimate walk with their Lord and Savior. The youth pastor will work closely with other leaders as he/she seek to teach the youth discipleship and what it means to be a disciple for the Kingdom. He/she will also work closely with the worship pastor as they lead the youth in praise and worship. Also as youth pastor, he/she must posses’ excellent communications skills because he/she will work closely with parents/guardians of the youth and interface with both small and large groups accordingly.
The youth pastor will begin this journey as an internee. He/she will work closely w/the Senior Pastor where one of his/her sole responsibilities will be to learn the Pastor’s heart. He/she will receive a stipend and will need to raise support for additional living expenses.
Position Responsibilities:
General
- Pray for Senior Pastor, ministerial and administrative staff and Church family
- Regularly attended Sunday worship service
- Be early and prepared for all worship services and scheduled meetings
- Disciple youth who are saved and prepare them to disciple
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
Specific
- Represent Senior Pastor at requested meetings and conferences (may require giving presentations).
- Develop and lead all youth ministry work
- Hold weekly youth meetings
- Lead theologically-appropriate, God-honoring, creative, and culturally-relevant church worship experiences for the youth.
- Recruit, direct, train, and lead youth team leaders
- Lead ministry while maintaining fiscal responsibilities
- Teach and train the youth in the ways of righteousness
- Develop an operating budget and become self supporting
- Establish regular office hours
- Establish and maintain close relationship with the youth
Qualifications:
- Meet the qualifications stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-16
- Subscribe to the Statement of Faith of The Tabernacle
- Completed a minimum of four (4) years of Bible College or the equivalent (two year completion of seminary)
- Have the obvious calling of God upon his or her life and have a teachable spirit
- Be a disciple of the Kingdom who supports the financial obligations of The Tabernacle through tithe and offerings.
- Ability to establish and foster exemplary relationships with Staff/non-staff workers, church membership, business partners and the community at large.
- Ability to lead, teach and coach the youth.
- Desire to continuously learn and serve the youth
- Able to keep confidentiality.
- Must have a growing and deepening walk with Christ, exemplified by a life of obedience, integrity and example.
- Professional work ethics, a spirit of excellence and high standards of quality.
- Self-initiator needing minimum supervision and is also creative and innovative and have a passion to minister the youth
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and maintain composure under pressure
- Ability to work effectively with the youth
